Our Lame Halloween

Halloween weekend started out looking like this:

This is what the roads looked like only a few hours after the storm started. Everything was such a mess.  We were trying to get home creeping along the road when a huge part of a tree landed directly on our windshield.  We all jumped, the kids freaked and we lost our wipers for a bit.  Thankfully everyone was fine and the wipers eventually started working again.  We made it home in once piece but it took awhile and it was definitely a little scary!

In the end we probably got 10-12 inches of snow. We never lost our power but we did lose cable, phone and internet for awhile.  The complex lost a bunch of trees and everywhere you look there are branches and wires down (still!).  Considereing this all ended only a day before Halloween you can imagine how trick or treating went. We had to climb over piles of snow to get to doors and bundle up against the cold.  We only made it to the top of the hill before we got too cold and headed back in.  Poor Grayson didn't even get to wear her Halloween dress because it was just too cold.  I don't even have any pictures of her because she was hanging off my chest in the Baby Bjorn covered with blankets. That's also the reason there aren't too many pictures.  Taking pictures with a baby hanging from your chest is very difficult!

My guys in their costumes.  Notice the pile of snow next to them.

The boys and their neighborhood friends.

Trick or treating with a snow plow in the way and branches and leaves down all over the place.  This better be the only time I ever take a picture like this.

This is what it looked like when we got to someone's door.  Everyone scrambling to get over the snow.

All in all, Halloween was a bust.  Thankfully a few days later most of the snow has melted.  Hopefully everyone will have their power back soon!
