Day 15- The Cake!!

Party day is almost here : ) I spent the morning baking, decorating and creating a Toy Story cake.  I am so, so, so happy with the way it came out.  It was way easier than I thought it would be.  I was fully prepared to encounter a major disaster and end up at stop & shop in the morning with some lame version of a Toy Story cake but I managed to pull it off.

I made a 13x9 funfetti cake and cut in half.  Filled the cake with some funfetti icing and then did a thin layer of vanilla over the whole thing to hold it together.  I used white fondant for the bottom "sheet" on the bed and mixed blue food coloring into the fondant to make the bed spread.  I took the easy way out and used a brown foam sheet to cut out the head board and foot board of the bed.  Then I just decorated and put as many Toy Story guys around the cake as I could find.

I love working with fondant.  It reminds me of clay and reminded me of my art classes back in college.  Makes me want to get back into it all.

R came home after I finished up and he is beyond thrilled.  He keeps going to check it out to make sure its still there.  Can't wait until tomorrow.

And one very excited almost 3 year old
